Black Healing Past & Future
Black people, our ancestors and those of us still moving and grooving, have long been trailblazers in interrupting uglification and oppression. This Black History Month, we invite you to name and celebrate the queer, fat, and/or disabled Black artists and writers who have helped you to love yourself more and imagine yourself free.
For Us With Love: An Open Mic Dream Space for Black MaGes
For Us With Love is an Open Mic devoted to us, Black MaGes, to love, heal, and nurture ourselves through literature and the arts. Share your own work, read from an artist or writer who has positively impacted your own life, or even come to enjoy some quality community time and wisdom with your people. Our biggest hope for the night is to give Black MaGes some well deserved time to be heard and commune with each other.
GLORY: The Fattest Love of All
This Valentines Day, join Reclaim UGLY for GLORY: THE FATTEST LOVE OF ALL and celebrate what it means to (U)plift, (G)lorify, & (L)ove (Y)our beautiful and lush body – while creating a world where others can as well. Inspired by Sherronda J Brown’s article, “Fat People Deserve To Glorify Our Bodies“, GLORY will be a day full of voluminous love, ample warmth, lascivious fun, and gloriously rotund performance.
